- Private Music Lessons

Pacific Coast School of Music provides private music lessons for all levels and ages.
The student receives private music instructions from highly qualified teachers with extensive teaching and performance experience. Pacific Coast School of Music offers private lessons for the following

instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, Oboe
Horn, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba
Piano
Timpani, Percussion, Drum Set
Voice / Vocals


- Music Theory

Pacific Coast School of Music provides private and group theory classes designed to prepare for
The Royal Conservatory of Music examinations or to further the knowledge of music in general.
Exam applications, exam fees and costs of materials such as textbooks and staff paper are not included in the tuition.
The classes offered are:

Preliminary Rudiments
:In this beginning theory class, the emphasis is on learning to read and write music. Students will also begin the study of scales, intervals and triads. No previous musical experience is necessary. This class is highly recommended for those who are starting private lessons or who belong to a choir or a band.

Rudiments I:
This class is designed for those who have studied Preliminary Rudiments or those who can already read music in treble and bass clefs and know major and minor scales and key signatures. In addition to more advanced study of scales, intervals and triads, students will learn about transposition and cadences.

Rudimetns II:
This class is designed for those who have studied Rudiments I or those who know major and minor scales and key signature, intervals and their inversions, and major and minor triads. In addition to more advanced study of scales, intervals, chords, transposition and cadences, students will learn about open score reading.

Harmony III (Introductory Harmony):
A thorough knowledge of rudiments is required. This class includes analysis and writing of elementary four-part harmony, melody writing
and the study of musical form.

- Group Lessons

Group Lessons are designed to provide students the opportunity to play their instruments in a group setting, preparing them for ensemble and orchestra performances. Through these classes, students will not only learn to listen to other students while playing under the guidance of a conductor, but to play in harmony.

String Ensemble:
Maximum of 20 students will learn to play various music pieces under the guidance of a conductor.
 Group I: 7 yrs. – 9 yrs.
 Group II: 10 yrs. – 12 yrs.
 Group III: 13 yrs. – 17 yrs.

Wind Ensemble:
Students will learn to play various music pieces under that guidance of a conductor.
 Group I: 9 yrs. – 13 yrs.
 Group II: 14 yrs. – 17 yrs.

PCSM Orchestra:
Students will learn to play various music pieces in orchestra setting, under the guidance of a conductor. The orchestra is made up of string and wind ensembles. The members of the orchestra will participate in annual concerts and events.


- Young Artist Performance

The class is designed to focus on performance aspect of music. This class is highly recommended for students who are pursuing to major in music performance.



- College Preparatory Class

The class is designed for students preparing for college or university entrance auditions. The instructor will guide and advise the student in regards to college and university admissions.



- Family Musical

The class is design to promote involvement of both the students and their parents in musical performances. Under the guidance of vocal teachers, students and parents will learn a musical play through singing and dancing lessons. The participants of the program will perform in school’s annual concerts and events.



- Summer / Winter Music Camps

During a 2 week program, students will participate in private instrument lessons, theory lessons, group (string / wind ensemble) lessons, and master classes. Students will also participate in field trips to concerts and recitals.


- International Elite Summer / Winter Camps

Pacific Coast School of Music offers students overseas the opportunity to learn music and English in a beautiful surroundings of British Columbia. Students will engage in English programs as well as music programs under the guidance of highly qualified instructors. This program is highly recommended for students who are serious about music and for students who are considering continuing their musical education in North America.
